ASD - Cloud Layouts

The Cloud Layouts feature saves steps in the process of producing a transcript. It's also a useful way to back up your layouts in our cloud.

Enable Cloud Layouts

The first step you need to take is to enable this feature. CLICK HERE for full directions. Once you've enabled this feature, you'll need to open ASD so you can upload a layout.

Upload a Layout

Layouts are uploaded to the cloud using the AutoScript Desktop client. Open the ASD program (just the program; you don't need to open a job from ASW). On the "Job" tab, click [Layouts Library]. Your view should resemble the following.

You'll have to add a special placeholder to any layout you want to use as a cloud layout. To do that, select the layout you wish to use on the left, then click the [Edit Document Template] button that appears.

Find the spot in your document where you want the Automated Speech-to-Text (ASR) to be inserted, and add the placeholder [ASR].

Close the edit screen, and click [Yes] when asked if you'd like to save changes.

Now you can select the layout and click the [Upload] button. If you do not see the [Upload] button, you do not have permission to manage cloud layouts. Please see the reference above to enable the feature for your user account. Once you click [Upload] you will see a screen like the following.

The name displayed here is the name that will display on AutoScript Web (ASW). If you need to change it before uploading, you may do so here. Also, if you manage layouts for more than one organization, ensure you've selected the correct organization. Once you're ready, click [Continue]. An upload meter will display, and then you will receive a confirmation that the layout was uploaded. Click [OK].
NOTE: If you forgot to add the [ASR] placeholder to the layout template, you'll be warned and you will not be able to upload the layout.

After you upload your first layout, you'll see a "Cloud" section in your Layouts Library. If you manage layouts for more than one organization, you'll see a section for each organization. You should see something like the following.

Replacing a Cloud Layout

Let's imagine you've made changes to a layout and need to replace the cloud version. Just select the layout in the "Local" section and click [Upload]. You will see the following.

Check the "Replace existing layout" option, and then check next to the layout you want to replace. Then, click [Continue]. You'll be prompted to answer if you're sure you want to replace the Cloud version. Click [OK] if you're sure; click [Cancel] if you're not. After you click [OK] you'll see the upload meter and a confirmation once it's done. Click [OK].

Replacing a Local Layout

Let's imagine you've made changes to the cloud version of a layout on one computer and you need to add it to another computer. Just select the layout in the "Cloud" section and click the [Replace] button. You will see the following.

Just check the box next to the local layout you wish to replace with the cloud version and click [Continue]

Remove a Cloud Layout

If you need to remove a cloud version of a layout, select the layout in the "Cloud" section and click the [Remove] button. Click [Yes] if you're sure, and the cloud version will be removed.
