StenoCat

AutoScript can create a rough-draft transcript from your audio and create an export with files that can be imported into StenoCat including reverse steno notes and synched audio.  Just follow these steps. 

 

Run your Job In AutoScript and Create your CAT Zip Folder

  1.  Log into https://www.autoscript.ai/ 
  2.  "Create Job" - upload your audio file and put in the information you need      
  3. "Submit Job" (Bottom left of the box)       
  4. After it is "Ready for Editing", you will click on the "OPEN IN ASDesktop"       
  5. Name the Job, then click "OK"       
  6. The job will load and a box will pop up Click on "Default" under layouts       
  7. Then click on "Apply Layout to this Job       
  8. A box will pop up asking you if you want to choose a template, click "NO"       
  9. The Text will load into the document

  1. Enter a filename to export this job to
            


  1. Save it where you want it to go
  2. Name it: 050142023 NAME
  3. Save
  4. ZIP file with steno notes, audio, and the text file 

Unzip your files

  1. Open File Manager·      
  2. Browse to where you save the Zip file·      
  3. Right Click your ZIP FILE and select “EXTRACT ALL”
    1. Extract in same folder

 

StenoCat Import

 

Bring in the RTF file·      

  1. Go to the “File” option·      
  2. Select “Copy in/Copy out”·      
  3. When the Copy in/Copy out window opens, select “Transcript” in the left sidebar·      
  4. Change the file type from StenoCat to RTF·      
  5. Browse to the folder that contains the extracted Zip files·      
  6. Select the RTF file·      
  7. Click on the open button

 

Bring in the audio

  1. While still in the Copy in/Copy out window, change the selection in the left sidebar from transcript to Insync to bring in the audio·      
  2. Make sure you are still in the unzipped folder and select the WAV file·      
  3. Click on the open button.

 

Open the job

You will go to open the newly created job just as you would any StenoCat job that you have in your system. 

Once you open the job, place your cursor in the transcript and use CTRL+A to select all or find it in the “Edit” file tab at the top of the screen.   Once all of the text has been selected, hit ALT+1 on your keyboard to have the proper formatting applied.
